Jennifer Cunningham,

RDH, OMT

Hi, I’m Jen.

I’m a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with over 25 years of clinical experience and an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist (OMT), dedicated to helping patients improve their oral function and overall wellness.

Over time, I began to notice a pattern—patients struggling with concerns like TMJ discomfort, mouth breathing, and functional issues that weren’t being fully addressed. I knew there had to be a better way to support them.

That curiosity led me to pursue advanced training in orofacial myofunctional therapy, where I discovered the important connection between breathing, oral function, and overall wellness.

Today, I draw on my extensive clinical experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, combined with specialized training in myofunctional therapy, to identify and address underlying patterns of dysfunction—not just manage symptoms.

Through personalized therapy, I help patients improve breathing patterns, support proper oral function, and develop habits that promote long-term wellness.

I collaborate with dental and medical providers to support comprehensive, patient-centered care.

My approach is rooted in education and empowerment. I believe that when patients understand how their bodies function, they are better equipped to create meaningful, lasting change.

This work is personal for me as well.

I was once a mouth and chest breather and didn’t realize the impact it was having on my health. Combined with seasonal allergies, I experienced firsthand how breathing patterns can affect how you feel day to day.

Learning to improve my own breathing, oral posture, and habits made a noticeable difference—and it continues to shape my passion for helping others make similar changes.

I’m deeply rooted in the Perry Township community and actively involved in local organizations and Perry Local Schools. Over the years, I’ve served in multiple leadership roles, including board member, vice president, president, and league organizer for youth sports and school-affiliated programs.

I’m also a local photographer supporting community groups and events, which has allowed me to build strong relationships and stay closely connected to the families I serve.

Outside of my work, I’m a wife to Scott, a mom to Ben, and a dog mom to Raven and Penny. I enjoy staying active, being involved in my community, and spending time behind the camera capturing meaningful moments.

I’m proud to serve patients throughout Stark, Tuscarawas, Wayne, and Summit counties, helping individuals of all ages improve their breathing, oral function, and overall wellness.

Continuing education in breathing and functional therapy

At Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy Center, I believe that healthy breathing and proper oral function are foundational to overall wellness. I help individuals of all ages address Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) through natural, patient-centered care.

Orofacial myofunctional therapy focuses on retraining the muscles of the face, tongue, and mouth to help improve:

  • breathing patterns

  • tongue posture

  • swallowing and chewing function

  • resting oral posture.

When these functions are balanced, patients often experience improvements in sleep quality, energy levels, and overall quality of life.

My approach is rooted in identifying and addressing the root causes of dysfunction-not just managing symptoms. Through individualized therapy, education, and supportive coaching, I help patients build lifelong habits that support lasting health.
